A Note From the Executive Director
Twelve years of volunteering in YoungLives, a ministry to teen moms, has given me so many opportunities to observe how a lack of safe housing and economic disadvantages create significant barriers that keep teen moms from achieving their goals. In 2019, God began growing a desire in my heart to help alleviate these barriers for teen moms and to give them the support they need to become self-sufficient, while also building relationships that affirm the value placed upon them by God.
When I heard that Hope House Colorado was interested in working with people who wanted to start affiliates in their own communities, it seemed like it could be a great fit. Through much prayer, seeking wisdom and encouragement from the team at Hope House Colorado, we began a journey together that has allowed us to start Hope House Cañon City. It is our hope that teen moms here in Cañon City and all along the Southern Front Range might have an opportunity to experience the love of Christ and the extra support needed to navigate this time in their lives.
I believe that my Master’s Degree in counseling, my experience living in community and my experience working with teen moms in YoungLives have led me here and have given me a great foundation as well as a passion for beginning this Residential Program with Hope House in Cañon City. I’m excited to see how the Lord will use this ministry to transform the lives of teen moms, for his glory!
Blessings,
Amanda Kolman, Executive Director Hope House Cañon City
